Stella's birthday dress

 Originally I wanted to get Stella one of those cute tutu outfits from Gymboree that say Birthday Girl and have a tulle cupcake on them. But kept hemming and hawing over the $60 price tag. Then I started thinking that a tulle cupcake can't be that hard. Right? Around the same time I got to looking at Stella's Fairy Knot dress from last year and noticed the cute Tina Givens cupcake fabric. Tada! An idea was born. Cute cupcake dress with an even cuter cupcake pocket. I did underestimate my crappy hand sewing skills though, but luckily Ryan's Granny was in town and helped tack down the pesky tulle. 

So I started off with the Charisa dress pattern I bought off etsy awhile back (don't you just love etsy PDF patterns?). I shortened it a bit. Then added a brown corduroy pocket, some tulle ruffles, some sprinkle fabric ruffles, a red ribbon yo-yo (thanks for the idea, Mom!), and did a small tight red zig zag for the stem.

I think it turned out adorable! I love the cupcake and it actually made it through a wash or two. That always means success!

I added in the last pictures so you can see that while she is beautiful, she would make an awful model!
